Hermes Backups

Hermes Backups is a private, single-user automation tool. It runs on one computer — the owner's own Linux workstation — and connects to the owner's own Google account. It is not a public service, it has no other users, and it has no sign-up.

What it does

• Project backups. It uploads a compressed archive of a local software project to a dedicated folder in the owner's own Google Drive, and keeps only the twenty most recent archives.
• Personal briefings. It reads the owner's own Gmail to prepare a short daily summary for the owner, and can send mail from the owner's account when the owner asks it to.
• Personal documents. It reads and writes the owner's own Google Sheets, Docs and Calendar entries when the owner asks it to.

Who it is for

One person: the owner of the Google account that authorizes it. Nothing in the tool is shared, published, or made available to anyone else.

Your data

Access tokens are stored on the owner's own computer with file permissions restricted to that user's account. Data read from Google is used only to perform the actions listed above and is never sold, shared, or transmitted to any third party. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
